Transparency
Charity
Charitable giving or responsible giving needed us to agree that on top of our values we needed to use some critical reflection on how to make responsible decisions to give well.
Why the detail on charitable giving?
Not only is it a continuation of our commitment to being transparent, we believe that thinking more about what it means to be charitable will enable us to give more responsibly. In turn, to give you a fuller picture of our way of thinking. We have decided to allocate 10% of available profit at the end of each operating year to the:
To help raise awareness and understanding of mental health and neurodiversity within the jewellery industry (as there is a chronic lack of acceptance within the industry, which is all the more surprising after the pandemic) – we have experienced this directly.
To assist and provide support to families that have lost everything and are classed as climate migrants due to the devastating impacts of climate change.
Mental Health and Neurodiversity
For Anikah, the terms diversity, mental health and neurodiversity are not terms used loosely to tick off HR requirements and publicity. Diversity runs through the veins of the business. Anxiety and depression and neurodiversity have been felt acutely within Anikah.
The journey of working through multiple late-stage diagnoses has given the family team the chance to learn, discuss, bond, heal and grow. Anikah was built to reflect personal journeys. The very notion of bespoke is perfect. You are on your wonderful and unique journey, just as we are. Each and every one of us is bespoke.
Commitment to the UN SDG’s
Our planet faces massive economic, social and environmental challenges. In 2015, 193 UN member states launched the 17 sustainable development goals. Designed as a roadmap for a more peaceful, equitable and just society. These goals are to be seen as a universal framework for more sustainable ways of living and operating with an ambitious target date of 2030. The SDG, if tackled collectively, represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to eliminate extreme poverty and put the world on a sustainable path.
The 1SDGs cover a wide spectrum of topics such as poverty, health, education, climate change and environmental degradation. Simply, it’s a collective call to action because we are all in it together. Every business within the jewellery industry should be aware of the UN SDGs and the importance of contributing in a unified way. SDGs allow Anikah to constantly embed best practices in regards to addressing several societal issues. We don’t see ethical behaviour as an option, it’s a principle and a driving motivation for us to adhere to
Anikah have a strong purpose-driven agenda, our business aims to contribute in the following areas:
Anikah will be transparent about its application of the UN goals
Quality Education
Zero Hunger
No Poverty
Clean Water and Sanitation
B-Corp Accreditation
The growing movement to minimise hurt and damage to the planet eventually led to the creation of the ‘Lab-grown diamond’, ‘cultivated’, ‘synthetic’ or ‘man-made’ diamonds – that and man’s never-ending quest to replicate diamonds. Lab-grown diamonds have the same physical, chemical, and optical properties as mined diamonds. For this reason, lab-grown diamonds will register as natural diamonds when tested. Only specialist laboratory equipment can note whether a diamond has been created in a laboratory or not. Even the most advanced gemmologists cannot tell the difference – by eye or under extreme magnification. – Choosing a lab-grown diamond ensures 100% transparency of its ethical origins, with a 0% chance of hurt and damage to people or the environment. Lab-grown diamonds are less expensive than natural, mined diamonds allowing you to get a more significant and/or higher quality diamond for your money
*All Anikah Lab-grown diamonds have IGI certification
